The solution to the debt crisis is not regressive taxes and austerity, that’s what Macron’s been doing and it’s only gotten worse.

My point is that it’s ridiculous to propose a regressive tax on internet when the zucman tax was voted down earlier this year

But they won’t pass a billionaire tax either.

The phoronix article misses what makes the project important:
Konsole is very intertwined with the older of the two user interface tech stacks in Qt, QWidget. QWidget typically renders using the CPU, and so does Konsole. Newer KDE software (including Plasma itself) typically uses Qt Quick and benefits from GPU acceleration via Vulkan or OpenGL instead. This is what Kwi does as well. For certain terminal applications the performance gain (3x-35x faster than Konsole depending on what’s being benchmarked) can make an actual big difference in the user experience, but generally it should also help reduce battery usage.
I know at least one developper who chose to use libadwaita instead of Kirigami because QtQuick didn’t have a good terminal widget.

This page has a full list of differences: https://join.piefed.social/features/
tl;dr is that:
I can access piefed communities and posts from my lemmy instance: PieFed link: https://piefed.zip/c/fedilytics@piefed.zip/p/1963727/growth-of-the-fediverse-20261102 Lemmy link: https://lemmy.zip/post/74312955
Most popular communities are lemmy ones, so it might just be that you haven’t seen one yet, they should be perfectly cross-compatible (minus the extra features), since they’re both threadiverse software.

Very obviously vibe coded, but seems quite useful. Only criticism I would have is that the UI, while fancy, is way too busy, and something more simple would serve it much better.

I mean the analogy he’s making is more like “nobody should pump their own water, all water should be gotten from the municipal circuit”, but it’s obviously a faulty comparison that falls apart when you realise that 1. OpenAI is for profit and 2. different AI is not equivalent the way water is

It was kinda long so i just used ai to summarize it /j
but seriously, wow, it is exactly what I’ve been thinking would be the perfect policy, they really nailed it.
Oh awesome, I had misunderstood that paragraph as it being a VM solution like Winboat, but your clarification makes the project much more exciting

I use a instance running continuwuity and every new/experimental (i.e, matrix 2.0) feature in the client works
From the site:
How does it work?
A virtual machine boots a guest operating system. Compatibility runtimes such as Wine instead implement the Windows interfaces an application needs.
Raven runs the .exe directly on the CPU in a supervised guest process. Some Windows functions execute inside that process, in Raven’s guest components or libraries. Requests for supervisor-managed services cross into the runtime outside it, which manages processes, handles, files and registry state and mediates access to the Linux host.
Raven implements Windows Installer custom actions, side-by-side assemblies through WinSxS and a service manager. These are among the interfaces real installers depend on; application compatibility still needs testing.
The official redistributables can be installed with their classic installers, like you would on Windows (Visual C++ 2005 to 2022, DirectX, .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8, XNA and OpenAL). Raven protects its own system libraries during installation. Snapshot creation can fail, so check that a checkpoint exists before relying on rollback. Tested applications can use the vendor’s installer; other applications may still fail to install or start.
Graphics go straight to Wayland and Vulkan, with DXVK and vkd3d-proton for Direct3D.
I think the point is to have a system in which the simplicity is enforced, kind of like how some cafés ban electronic devices.

+1 They’re great and their customer support is the best I’ve ever used, since it just connects you to their engineers.

They are, but they’re also the hardest to get rid of, so a lot of other US tech gets ditched first
So is bottles next dead then?

Yup, totally different, continuwuity and synapse are the main two, and although there are others, they’re just less good.

The commercial implementation is also open source, but there is a a proprietary version aimed at large enterprise customers that adds better optimization for very large deployments, and better auditing and moderation tools.
See here for all the servers, clients and bridges can also be viewed from there: https://matrix.org/ecosystem/servers/

Out of curiosity, does that mean you’d consider adoption?

That’s because you’re the goat and photon is awesome
How is somebody using discord “contributing to fascism” to any meaningful degree? At that point you might as well kill yourself since buying food also contributes, since in most places the only options are all shitty companies that are way worse than discord.
