Yep. I’m prepared to fight like hell in the primary, if we get one, to make sure he doesn’t make it on the ballot. If we don’t topple establishment leadership at the DNC this election though, they will force Newsom through regardless of what the primary shows, like with Bernie. The bigger fight is now.

Who would you like to see as the candidate in 2028? A lot of people like AOC but I’m not sure she runs in '28.

I think it’s too soon for her, I think she should take Chuck’s Senate seat first, then run later. I don’t know who, I feel like you can’t trust anybody these days. If no one better is nominatted, she might have to run now, rather than later.

Ken Martin, they promoted him from running Minnesota’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor party, which is our local Democratic party and generally is a bit left of the national party. I don’t know how progressive Martin himself is versus how much just kinda happened under him because of the party itself - Governor Tim Walz signed off on a lot of progressive stuff because he briefly oversaw a DFL trifecta and he and his party were willing to spend political capital to make good things happen but I wouldn’t consider Walz to be super progressive on his own.

Ken Martin is cause for a bit of optimism, he’s more progressive, but he may just be an amorphous blob of whatever machine he’s in front of.

Possibly-amorphous-blob is still better than an establishment centrist who will screw over progressives like they did to Bernie.

There’s a lot of leftward momentum right now, and as long as that isn’t actively hindered from the top, then I think we have reason to hope.
