Total Forgiveness might be Dropout’s most uncomfortable show.
What starts out as a Game Changer like show focused on helping Ally Beardsley and Grant O’Brian pay off their student loans quickly turns into a documentary on what financial desperation can do to a friendship in real time.
In this video, I look back at Total Forgiveness in order to figure out how a show being made in real time went from a light hearted comedy to a dark documentary, and why I don’t think Dropout could ever recreate it even if they tried.
Yeah Grant at the flea market was one of the bleaker things I’ve seen on tv.
Watching the show slip out of their control and tumble from a comedy to a documentary is so painful yet so fascinating
This show gave me a negative impression of Ally. They’ve since been redeemed though
