Normally I would post in a satire community, because that’s mostly what we are writing, but this particular entry doesn’t really feel satirical just … ranting.
“Every dollar a worker spends enjoying themselves becomes evidence of personal failure. Every dollar a billionaire extracts from that worker becomes evidence of superior intelligence.”
Perfectly put.
Thanks. I’m like soooo mad. Can you tell? I hope so. I hope you’re mad too. 🫂
It’s funny when people get mad at poor people for just sitting home collecting handouts, but a rich person who lives on their inherited interest and safe investments is unremarkable
We should tax their wealth away.
Interest is taxable, while handouts are not. Unless you have a good tax attorney… which only money can buy.
You have to pay taxes on unemployment money, at least in New York.
This is why I skipped the unemployment line and went right to hooking. They said turn a hobby into a career. 🤷♂️
illionaire financial influencer Mark Tilbury has offered a brilliant new strategy for accumulating wealth: Buy Grand Theft Auto 6, stay inside and stop wasting money on the increasingly extravagant luxury of having a fucking life.
Tilbury recently calculated that playing the game instead of going out could save consumers $5,000. His arithmetic assumes people are regularly spending $100 on evenings out, suggesting his closest encounter with working-class financial hardship was accidentally tipping a valet less than $20.
The revelation represents a major breakthrough in millionaire economics, a field dedicated to finding increasingly elaborate ways to avoid acknowledging why anyone is poor.
For decades, wealthy financial gurus have advised workers to stop buying coffee, cancel streaming subscriptions and prepare meals at home. Tilbury has finally taken the philosophy to its logical conclusion:
Stop going outside altogether. It’s difficult to overstate the genius involved. Rather than demanding higher wages, affordable housing or an economy where full-time employment actually covers the cost of existence, the poor can simply retreat into their apartments and simulate the freedom they can no longer afford in real life.
Why buy a car when you can steal one in Los Santos? Why visit the beach when your television has one? Why spend $40 having dinner with friends when you can sit alone in the dark accumulating imaginary wealth while your actual landlord accumulates yours?
And if you’re still struggling, have you checked between the couch cushions? That’s where Tilbury and several other millionaires apparently found their first million.
This is the particular obscenity of rich people giving financial advice. They describe poverty as a series of irresponsible purchases rather than an economic condition. Every dollar a worker spends enjoying themselves becomes evidence of personal failure. Every dollar a billionaire extracts from that worker becomes evidence of superior intelligence.
A person earning $35,000 a year must account for every sandwich, every movie ticket and every unnecessary journey outside the home. A man worth millions can tell that person to buy a video game and call himself a financial educator.
Tilbury isn’t offering a path out of poverty. He’s offering instructions for making poverty less visible.Stay home. Don’t travel. Don’t socialize. Don’t occupy the restaurants, beaches and entertainment districts that wealthy people would prefer to enjoy without you. Keep working, keep paying rent and kindly stop expecting civilization to include you.
And when you’ve finally saved that $5,000, congratulations. Your landlord has raised the rent, your groceries cost more, and the millionaire who told you to stay home has earned another advertising check explaining how you can save $10,000 by not eating.
Inb4 some citizen(s) install a guillotine in front of his house. 🤷🏼♂️
The poor don’t lift weight. It’s beneath them. Or so they are told whenever they try to lift the blade.
The trick to chopping wood is to ignore the lumbers’ shit-talking, I guess.
