The department will reopen the $750,000 contract for FalcoNet, an AI-driven cellphone tracker from Cognyte, to competitive bids, and Cognyte can still bid, the Daily News reported. Meta said in 2021 it removed about 100 accounts linked to the firm, whose customers targeted journalists and politicians.

Listen, if the tech giants don’t even want to work with them, you should probubbly avoid them.

I want to first credit Mamdani for being why she would have to drop it…

Before immediately pointing out again that she has no business in this position Eric Adams gave her and needs to be replaced ASAP.

She’s a full on oligarch who got into policing “fo funsies”

But Mamdani just won’t fucking replace her.

If I had to baselessly speculate, there’s probably a shortage of progressive people who both want that job and could survive the terrorism from the police unions

I rather think this line of reasoning is more accurate:

She’s a full on oligarch who got into policing “fo funsies”

Police commissioner is a cushy job. I’m certain he can find 1 decent person to replace her with.

Fish rots from the head. He’s not serious about police reforms and community policing if he’s not willing replace her.

I was playing devil’s advocate to some extent - I’m sure there is someone who could do the job. However, I think it’s disingenuous to say that ‘reformist NYC police commissioner’ would be any kind of a cushy job.

Obviously if you don’t care what happens, and have the force of will required to lead one of the largest militarized gangs in the world, it’s not a terrible job. But that’s not what is being asked for and the person who replaces Tisch is going to be under a lot of direct and indirect pressure from people who enjoy violence.
