I still think it’s stupid to say both parties are the same because they have a few things in common. They have vastly more things not in common and asserting otherwise just undermines your point. Just say what you mean not some broad incorrect statement, both parties are bad when it comes to privacy, individual liberties or upholding constitutional protections
“Both parties are the same” is incorrect if you are viewing the parties based on their messaging or from a perspective of idealism.
“Both parties are the same” is correct if you are viewing the parties based on the material outcomes of the actions they take and who they serve to benefit.
