I swear I’m not trying to throw shade, but i’m just old and jaded. I doubt that will happen, just looking at history. I hope you are right and I m wrong.

Texas has had far more democratic governors than republican governors. The solid red trend started in 1995, and it has stayed that way largely due to the manipulation of modern conservatives. There is absolutely no guarantee that it won’t switch blue again for a long time if they deal with the corruption, or start flip flopping again like it did from the 70’s to the 90’s.
Most of those Democratic governor’s were the conservatives of the day, though. They saw the state through slavery, the Confederacy, Jim Crow and the Klan, and became Republicans after the the Civil Rights Act and Southern Strategy.
