Pillars of Eternity II is one of the best RPGs ever made, and I would have loved controller support when I played it (twice in a row, because it was so good!) over a year ago.
really liked the first one. gritty, dark, kinda creepy.
second one was a bit too pirate coded for me.
hopefully they make a third one though. multiplayer would be nice too.
Will they ever add WASD controls?
I just can’t get into point-and-click anymore, it’s frsutrating enough I just don’t play games without it.
This sudden recent attention Pillars of Eternity series has been getting years after it’s release, first with the addition of turn-based mode to the first game and now this makes the smallest kindling of hope for a classic CRPG Pillars of Eternity 3 light up inside of me. I feel like with the success of BG3 and even some smaller titles like the Owlcat’s Pathfinder games or the new Warhammer one maybe Obsidian can finally get a green light from the higher-ups at Microsoft to give us the sequel we’ve been waiting for.
I’m not sure by which definition of “small” you’re judging the Owlcat games, but, if anything, I felt like they were so overstuffed with content that they would have actually benefitted from reducing their scope. I think I was like 25 or so hours into Rogue Trader and was still getting tutorials for whole systems.
I meant smaller as in not as popular/profitable as the behemoth that was BG3. Scope-wise they are definitely huge!
Well, they’ve been dedicated to Fallout now, so I doubt a project like that even starts for a least a few years.
Controller support would be nice, especially when playing from a couch.
There were console versions that had controller support, and I always found it stupid that they figured it was pointless to include controller support on PC. Sounds like the controller support code was handled by a contractor that didn’t share, but it still stinks that it took this long.
What makes you think the contractor didn’t share the code? Or do you mean didn’t share the work to PC? Generally if it isn’t in the contract it may not have made sense for them to also make it for PC. It’s always quite a bit of work supporting 2 schemes.
I think you just explained exactly what I meant. I just challenge the idea that PC gamers wouldn’t also be worth getting controller support if a console version was worth making in the first place.
But will they fix the grievous mistake of not allowing you to get absolutely railed by Eder?
Everytime I get it confused with Pillars of the Earth!
Isn’t that the 10000 page tome about building a church?
It’s the first 1000 page tome about a town in which a church is built, yes.
and fucking, yes
Or Path of Exile. Too many PoE’s!
Power of Ethernet?
These are probably my favorite games ever
