It seems like a good action romp, from what I’ve seen of it. I might pick it up on deep sale in a few years. A shame you’re getting so many bugs, though.
Living fossil.

Yeah, I feel that. I think Darkwood really benefits from the semi-permadeath of Hard mode to keep the tension and fear up (even though I was too much of a wuss to go through with that). But even without the atmosphere was just so unsettling.

Darkwood is definitely an experience. One of the few games that’s ever managed to get under my skin. Are you hyped for the sequel?

Sektori looks insane but absolutely overstimulating. Looks super good but I don’t think I’d ever be able to cope with something like that. Made me think of something though. Not a twin stick shooter but if you like those sensory overload high pace shooters maybe you’d get a kick out of HYPER DEMON?

Also maybe Teardown?

Well, let me think. Apart from the Far Crys there is also the Saint’s Row games and maybe… Ghost Recon: Wildlands?

Hyperspace Outlaw looks interesting. I’m not sure it’s the kind of game I’m looking for right now but my ears are always perking up at an Overwhelmingly Positive indie game. Might check it out at some point.

Buying games on sale is so much more satisfying than actually playing them, isn’t it? All that potential joy at your fingertips, all those dollars you gigglingly save… Much better than actually cashing it in by playing them. I know that feeling.
I’ve never played Just Cause, but that sounds like something adjacent to Ubisoft open worlds? You could try some Assassins Creed game (I actually quite like Unity, otherwise the Black Flag remake maybe?), Ghost of Tsushima sounds similar, Sleeping Dogs perhaps (although more of a GTA-like)? Otherwise there are several Far Cry games that maybe can give you that loop of clearing out outposts?

It absolutely is. Thief is generally mentioned in the same breath as Deus Ex as the founding fathers of imsims.

Having a bit of a hard time resetting after my NextFest adventures, which I did end up writing a full report on. Played a bit more of the Ablahshikar demo just to try and figure out what the hell is going on with that game. Will probably buy the early access when it starts soon, partly because it’ll be cheaper than the full release and partly because I want to support the artistry of this developer.
Got back to playing a bit more Withering Realms today, which is also woefully impatient of me I know. I’m really flying in the face of this community’s values. Anyway. Game is good, it’s getting better with every patch. I think it will be fantastic once it releases next spring. Puzzles are quite a bit harder than Withering Rooms, though. Especially since the clues are much more spread out, and it’s much harder to know if you have access to all the required information or not. I’m stumped a bit on a particular puzzle at the moment, will probably have to backtrack a lot and see if I missed something.
I’m looking forward to Galley House then, that sounds really good!
Message From Deep Space looks interesting (and I did notice the Overwhelmingly Positive reviews), but I am a bit hesitant it’s a bit too math heavy for me (not my forte or favourite). Might be a good recommendation for my brother in law, though! Thanks for the rec!
Great picks, I’m really excited about those two.
I haven’t gotten to Galley House yet, I’ll play it with family over Christmas I think. Was it good?
And if you are fiending for more deduction games you might want to check out Dupery that just released. I’ve heard some really glowing endorsements and seen some gameplay. Looks very good, although quite difficult once you get into it.

Oh I had no idea, congratulations! I hope everything will go smoothly for both of you!
I am doing well, I have also been less active around here the past few months but I don’t think my absence is noticed as much. I still pop out from time to time giving my unsolicited opinions on games, hah.

That’s such a good idea for an interactive exhibit for kids!

Your presence is missed and your absence is definitely felt. I hope you’re busy in a good way! Always happy to see you around whenever you do pop out.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Which ones caught your fancy?

Well then, I would perhaps be interested in said Obscure Games Club. Although I do have trouble with commitment. But I equally like talking about games I play with people, and I like playing smaller more obscure games, and those two things tend to be in conflict.

Is this for video games or non-video games? If video games, there is already !Bside@fedia.io
I’ve heard so much good about this game it’s actually a problem. Mantra time, I guess.
