Idk man literally today I tried having Claude opus write some code for me and it was ok, it worked, but it was overly complicated, reinvented the wheel several times, was sloppy, did some random unnecessary stuff, and was just generally spaghetti. I’m not surprised it looks impressive to someone knowing how to code, but I certainly wouldn’t want to associate my name with something like that.

NMS is closer to Minecraft in genre than a story driven RPG.

It’s an exploration and survival sandbox game, with a little bit of story sprinkled on top.

The most similar game I’ve played to it is Out There. No Man’s Sky is extremely similar to Out There in a lot of ways, except NMS is 3D and things like mining or fighting you have to do in-game rather than in a fade-to-black style cutscene.

Give Out There a try, and if you like it, you will love No Man’s Sky. If you don’t like it, you will probably find No Man’s Sky more enjoyable but a bit bland. Out There is on smartphone app stores as well as Steam.

iPads have filesystem access these days. The approved apps thing I’m curious what they will do about.

They are on a path towards merging iOS and macOS and fully merging their iPad and MacBook product lines. They’ve been on this path for a while, you can see it in things like moving the MacBook to ARM, adding mouse support to the iPad, making the iPad OS more desktop-like and making the desktop OS more iPad-like.

This is just the next step on that path. The eventual goal will be all of their devices will run the same OS with only subtle variations.
