  • I have mixed feelings on mod logs personally. They’re great when the mods aren’t trustworthy and nothing is controversial. But I think they leave mod teams vulnerable to coordinated attack, which absolutely will happen if lemmy gets big enough. The mod logs played a (small) role in my decision not to take on mod roles or start communities here.

Mod mail on the other hand is a great tool for communication with basically no downsides

  • Yeah, and I will say it’s definitely better for posting than I expected. I kinda was expecting very little response, and I think that the small community vibes help people feel comfortable replying to OC posts. That said, there are some things it’s missing (notably to me at least is a sapphic oriented nudes space). But ultimately yeah it’s good and improving, and I do recommend people who’ve been considering posting there give it a try.

  • Kinda, but also it can be basically an associate’s degree worth of political theory and history that most anarchists pick up through a combination of personal study and interpersonal discussion over years. And that occurs during the radicalization stage, which infiltrators need to pose as already having passed. And the fact that these topics aren’t necessarily simple also plays a role.

Like, I’ve met dumb anarchists before, but nobody would join a cell with the idiots, and the idiots won’t think to join a cell. They’ll get intoxicated and light something on fire at a protest or something similar. And even they’ll expect you to have some cultural understanding before committing a crime with you.
