KDE comes to mind. I remember when KDE was the laughingstock of Linux DEs. And now it’s one of the most polished and customizable DEs you can find.

HOWEVER - with this new “Liquid Glass” bullshit, they have completely lost it. The latest iOS is complete garbage. One of the many reasons my next phone will not be Apple. It will be a Linux phone. Period.
People say that about every single redesign ever. Remember when apple went from skeumorphism to flat icons? Ho-lee shit the amount of people who were foaming at the mouth over it…
I’m not a huge fan of this “liquid glass” either, but I use my iPhone like a phone, not a status symbol, so I really couldn’t give less of a shit, and frankly I grow extremely tired of seeing people losing their goddamn minds over a fucking icon. Fucking christ, get over yourselves.

I recently put Graphene on my no-longer work phone. I think what makes it extra tough is that it feels familiar and simultaneously alien.
Almost like Android is a direct competitor to iOS. Who’d’ve thought??
There’s an action centre, and you can edit toggles, but there are no editable sliders for audio and brightness.
The brightness slider is at the top of the quick settings panel. Audio slider comes up with the volume buttons and can be quickly expanded to control media/call/ring/notification/alarm volumes, all independently, no matter where you are in the OS.
A lot of the icons feel like buttons but aren’t.
Every icon in the quick settings panel is a button.
Then there’s the gestures. They feel a little off.
They’re virtually identical to iOS.
The back motion can be done forward too
And I can’t stand the fact that Apple didn’t implement this.
and there’s no preview of what “back” is.
Why would there be? You know where you came from.
I’d argue that Apple’s implementation of the “back” gesture is laughably terrible in comparison, what with the hilariously tiny back button and the back gesture doing separate things for some reason unknown to anyone.
And I loathe the settings pane.
I loathe all settings that require the use of a search bar to locate a setting that shouldn’t require a search bar on the first place. I’ve used Android since the Eclair release, so I watched it evolve over the years and quickly figured out where the important settings ended up.
TL;DR - Skill issue
Its been damn near 20 years of Apple vs Android, why are we still whining about stupid shit that doesn’t matter? If it bothers you that much, use something else.

And I was having difficulties with my iphone, ipad, and linux devices syncing with Nextcloud.
Apple does this on purpose to keep you stuck in their walled garden. iCloud is so deeply integrated into the OS that it’s damn near impossible to use anything else.

ProjectLibre sounded interesting, but they’re pushing their subscription SaaS product hard. That kind of mindset doesn’t bode well for it’s future. I would look elsewhere. The term “libre” doesn’t belong on paid subscriptions.

Acting like you’re better than people who use those services isn’t helping anybody.
Hell, I use Discord, and I’m a mod on one of them. We’ve talked extensively about moving to a more private platform, but given the nature of our server, we decided to stick with Discord for the time being.

This sounds very handy.

Sometimes I don’t want to use command line. Sometimes I just want to use a mouse.

Because like it or not a lot of people still use those services and don’t want messages they previously thought were private showing up on fucking Google.

Tailscale is just wireguard with a central management console.

Yes, and it’s very useful. Cockpit, too.
I would never expose either of them to the internet.

Both can be true. Every “controversy” that Proton has had ended up being a big ol’ nothingburger that was blown way the fuck out of proportion.

That’s not what it is, but keep making things up.
Don’t use portainer. They are rapidly enshittifying.
Dockge is what I use for Docker. It works alongside existing Docker environments and doesn’t fuck up the structure. Unlike Portainer.
