I’m celebrating this result. It’s not about the money, because as everyone else is saying, this is chump change to him.

But what’s beautiful is the blow to the ego. The reminder that all the money in the world can’t buy popularity or adoration. The suspicion that he might be getting taken advantage of by others taking his money. The confirmation that he’s not fully in control, and never will be.

    That is worth celebrating.

Who regrets pennies? Musk doesnt see 473 million dollars. Hes a multibillionaire. He didnt even feel this monetarily.

The difference between $473 million and Elon Musk’s total net worth is roughly a trillion dollars.

Probably even less. For most people, a fridge repair and losing a week’s worth of groceries will break them.

In any case, Musk will be just fine, financially. His ego is another matter.

      https://www.cbsnews.com/news/saving-money-emergency-expenses-2025/

Whether it’s a busted refrigerator, car trouble or medical issues, unexpected costs are a part of life. But even such routine curveballs often spell serious financial trouble for many Americans.

That’s according to a new Bankrate report that surveyed more than 1,000 U.S. adults about their ability to handle a surprise bill. Despite the country’s current low unemployment rate, the annual study found that 59% of Americans in 2025 don’t have enough savings to cover an unexpected $1,000 emergency expense.

At what point will these people realize that there is a point of diminishing returns in campaign spending, where simply throwing more money at it won’t generate any more votes?

Honestly, the only way all this outsized campaign money makes sense to me is if candidates are pocketing it as a back-door bribe. Maybe now that Texas is run by sane people, we’ll get some good investigations into where all the money went.

Meh. He won’t miss the money, he probably regrets not doubling it, if anything. Also, he knew he was gambling by the fact he spent them money in the first place. He didn’t put in anything he couldn’t easily afford to lose, which really should make we never-gonna-be-billionaires think a bit.

I’d glad to see it, but it’s barely anything to him. Equivalent of ~$100 to an average US adult.

I would say that although mathematically you are correct, the impact of losing $100 for the average American is greater.

Seconded. Basic necessities have absolute costs. That’s $100 worth of groceries for a normal person. This is coming out of his copious fuck-around money.

I just can’t stop laughing. I’m not even lying.

I am seeing that shit everywhere – especially in all the battleground states he poured money into like water, such as Maine, Texas, and Michigan that are now winning historical upsets – and I literally can’t stop snickering and laughing.

    🤣 🤣 🤣

        Seen on bluesky:

Elon Musk and his entire operation now lives in a blue state with a Democratic attorney general. :)

Epic indeed. Toddler billionaire thought he could buy the elections he wanted and it didn’t work, and there are no refunds. Imagine the entitled fury.

Oh god I can’t stop laughing, I’m gonna wake up the whole house 🤣 🤣 🤣

I wonder if all the republican scumbags he bought looked at the money and thought “wait, why the fuck do I even need to bother being a politician? I can just take this imbecile’s money, lose, and go on a paid vacation for a few years. I’ll just call it a series of fact-finding missions in aid of the 2028 presidential election”.
