Re: Community naming (“Space” vs. “Spaceflight” vs. “Astronomy”)
I think that “space” is the most general term, with “astronomy” and “spaceflight” being subsets.
Examples:
- Interesting data from a telescope? Astronomy and space, but not spaceflight.
- A new GPS satellite is launched? Spaceflight and space, but not astronomy.
- The Perseverance rover drills into a neat rock on Mars? Space, but not really astronomy or spaceflight.
- A new space telescope is launched? Definitely all three.
Thoughts on which would be best to move to?
My votes would lean slightly towards !space@sopuli.xyz and !astronomy@lemmy.world, but I’d be interested to hear other people’s thoughts.

I am open to that. Having a single more active community is usually better. @threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works can you make a post or leave a comment in the community so I can add you as mod?
Thanks, here you go: https://lemmy.ml/post/28528926
Done. Let me know how we are going to merge these communities while keeping everybody active and involved.
