  • The German saying is famous but not because they genuinely didnt know anything was going on. They were aware of persecution and rounding up of Jews and other minorities and some were aware of thr death camps.

Most Isrealis are aware thats happening even if they dont know every detail I think we both agree that they should pickup that something is seriously wrong with their state. I think Germans at the time were the same and cannot hide behind an excuse of “we didnt know”. I also think Canadians at the time were aware of the expansion and encroachment of natives and supported the polices. Also assimilation policies.

To preface this, I am not knowledgeable on Canadian history. I have done a few hours of generalised reading. What kind of dates do you want? I think narrowing we can narrow it down and focus on 1870 to 1950. I want to preface this by saying that I don’t think Canadians are 1000x mega Nazi’s nor do I think Isrealis are 100x mega Nazis. But I want your explanation on why these two things ate different because if im to accept your framing of isreal 100x Nazi I can only logically extend that to Canada 100x Nazi

  • There is no deflection, I am not disputing your claim I am asking about your worldview to see how and why you apply it in the way that you do. Ive already accepted the premise that Isreal is 100x worse than Nazi Germany I’m interested in why and how that differs to Canada. I assume by you posting such an extreme claim you wanted to have the conversation.

Off the bad your comparison between isreal and Germany is a lie. German civilians were in fact aware of the holocaust and complict in supporting the regime. Canadians were also aware of what was happening to natives and supported those policies and that political rhetoric.

So I can only assume that you either feel the same way about yourself or there is something different that you are evaluating. It seems to be time between the event and now. I dont think time between the event is meaningful given how short of a timeframe its been and how little remediation has been shown.

So I assume you think once isreal Genocides 95% of Palestinians and then expands to the ‘greater isreal’. Some time passes and they do some land acknowledgements then you would you change your tune?

  • The power cost isnt worth running a server 24/7. I dont want to invest in redundancy or storage space for a social media site. I dont want to have my account linked directly to my home ip for privacy and security reasons. I’d rather use pooled resources from the local instance and donate $20 every now n then.

  • After the reddit migration there was a sense of optimism and feeling that this platform could be something great. People were joking and interacting positively.

Then the I/P happened and agenda posting went crazy you had people attacking people where both people were on the same side of the issue. Its gotten consistently worse since then. I/p, Ukraine, Trump, AI its making people miserable and rightfully so. But I wonder what is needed for the path back to optimism and positive discussion.
