Lmao. People left California because the cost of living is too high because so many people want to live there (and because the state government is too capitalist to do anything to make it affordable). So they went to Texas, where it’s cheap because no one wants to live there because it’s even more capitalist.

12·1 day agoSoviet archival evidence shows that the purges were democratically initiated by the party at large and were initially very popular due to the real problem of capitalist sabotage They got worse when the NKVD became overzealous and stepped beyond the bounds that were given them. The evidence shows that Stalin actually spent more time trying to reign in the excesses, but was often unsuccessful largely due to the weakness of the Soviet state that was recovering from a brutal civil war.
Of course, the purges were very excessive and rightly considered one of the big mistakes of the Stalin era, but the idea that they were his is ahistorical.

14·1 day agoThe gulags were not fascist torture camps. Many of them were barely even prisons, like they were towns where people could move around freely and even go to the theater. They were definitely work camps, where people repaid their debts to society, and the ones for political prisoners had heavy reeducation programs. They were successful, too. Many of the people who were imprisoned for anti-communist/fascist activity became committed socialists by the time of their release (not surprising given the logical nature of Marxism).
There’s a lot of misinformation out there about gulags, but when I say Musk belongs in one, it’s because he needs to work to repay all the damage he has done and if possible he needs to be re-educated. I don’t believe in prisons as punishment. I also don’t believe in capital punishment for people like Musk.

1·2 days agoYou are so steeped in propaganda that you refuse even to look at information outside of the capitalist bubble. Capitalists even have a material incentive to lie about socialism because it is the only thing that threatens them, yet you still believe their lies. I despair sometimes that humanity will ever be able to throw off their chains.

2·3 days agoSocial welfare is not socialism. And also, the only reason Scandinavian countries got social welfare was through massive civil unrest and threatening a worker’s revolution. The welfare was the compromise. They are still capitalist members of the imperial core who fund their welfare through exploitation of the global south.
Also, maybe read histories of the USSR and China that weren’t written by capitalists. They tend to lie about socialism, like a lot.

5·3 days agoThe power required to kick out fascists, seize businesses or do any of that stuff can really only come from a socialist revolution. There’s no way the capitalists will let you vote for it, that’s for sure.

3·5 days agoVoting them out doesn’t work when the electorate is propagandized to believe they are good candidates. Changing politics in this country is going to have to start with grassroots community organizing. You are going to have to get out there and explain to as many people as possible that establishment Democrats are not on their side, and show that you are trustworthy by doing good work like mutual aid. If we just keep waiting for the election cycle to change things, nothing ever will.
