That would actually be smart. With the current hype, there’s a lot of money floating around. Increasing that a bit more to fulfill regulations would be a non issue to them. We might even end up with more advances to green technology simply because at that scale it’s worth to invent new solutions.

I’m not too worried. This bubble is going to collapse. The demand isn’t there and the money to turn a profit sure isn’t. The news over the last two days hasn’t been so hot for the AI companies.

A lot of damage is still done, though. Just thinking of the fiasco in Finnland

Well, there’s not demand and no money because the rich dragons keep squeezing us with austerity. F-ing pay the market and there’d be buyers for all sorts of junk.

Reminds me the time, when people theorized Musk wanted to accelerate climate change, so that governments would fund his Mars colonization pet project.

Why doesn’t he jet off to Mars and get to terraforming there? There’s no regulations and no people to bother him.

The best part is that we spent 15 years cutting emissions just so a handful of billionaires could burn the savings teaching chatbots to summarize emails nobody wanted to read. Then they’ll sell us AI powered climate solutions, funded by taxpayers, to clean up the mess. Innovation really is a beautiful circle.

Reminds me of how companies strip mine an area into a superfund site then dissolve, leaving no one whose ass we can collectively kick. Turns out we’re the only ass left.

Here’s a crazy idea, spend the money on power/network infrastructure now, and build more renewable power generation as we go.

That way, in the worst case scenario, you have cheap renewable power for a generation rather than warehouses of depreciating and unused silicon.

Wonder why they decided to run them on NG… Hmmm

It prolly would have also happened with any other president, maybe just not that excessively. Billionaires will always have their way.

It’s funny how they’re still saying “could”, when they really should be saying “will”.

Given the grass root opposition they’re getting, there’s still a lot of “could”. It’s also been repeatedly reported as a vote loser in the current US midterm elections.

Instead of giving them tax breaks, require that they produce 110% of their power themselves and exclusively through green sources. Two birds, one stone.

Ireland implemented this last year, 100% wind or solar generation match by each new data centre project.

This problem is not that hard to legislate solutions to, Americans have just cucked themselves with terrible choices.

Nah man, don’t worry. Once we get AI all powered up it’ll solve climate change for us! If not, then we can just establish a colony on the Moon to escape to once this planet is destroyed. Copium? Nah, you’re huffing copium! /j
