If only every rapist and abuser was punished too.
So we can put celebrities in prison for rape?
Sooooooooooooooooooooooo…
Xenu can be worshipped from prison, right? Have fun, see you in 2056
Now do Trump!

Finally so good fucking food
everybody likes that
Other than a bunch of his co-stars on that 70s show.
The actress that played Kitty Foreman was so impressed that he made the other teenaged stars make a pact to stay away from weed that she’s willing to forgive a little rape. Which also checks out for the type of person he seems to be: very vocally “good” but a real piece of shit behind closed doors. It’s all PR.
The actor that played Red Foreman thinks someone taking a leadership role amongst the group should forgive a bit of rape. Makes me wonder if it was more of a fucked up dynamic because that also fits the type that I’ve seen, but there was also a lot of money and a contract keeping them together, which gives that type power.
Though Jackie and Micheal (can’t remember what the rest of them called him) also thought his rape wasn’t that bad.
I can’t find any evidence that Topher Grace (Eric), Laura Prepon (Donna), or Wilmer Valderrama (Fez) ever supported him after the allegations came out. I wonder if they appreciated his “leadership” as much as the old ones did or started to see through him while they were still filming the show.
there is a whole IMDB website of actors who still support Masterson. Kutcher and Kunis top of that list. They never mention any victim.
Wasn’t Donna dating him for a while and she was in the same cult he was?
All I know was that I wasn’t able to find any public statements she made in support of him regarding the rape charges or sentencing.
But I did find information saying she quietly left scientology a while ago (and later talked about it) and that she dated Chris Masterson (who played Francis on Malcolm in the Middle and is on that IMDB list of Danny supporters), not Danny, though Danny did introduce her to Scientology.
Another reminder that aside from Topher Grace, the rest of the cast all stood behind Danny when the rape allegations first came out.
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher stood by him after he was convicted.
and like cowards fled to EUROPE to avoid controversy in the states. it was right to “shit” on MEG in family guy. its a thing for rich white people facing racism, rape, Molestation,etc/ flee to a country that is not aware of the drama back in the states. Also japan is another favorite spot.
also funny that not long after ellen degeneres fled to europe after diddy was charged, hmm looks like she could be involved too.
I wouldn’t be surprised, she’s a horrible person
Do you think they all knew that he’s a rapist? Seems speculative
I swear people online never actually think about anything, it’s all just knee-jerk reactionary crap.
Honestly, it is totally expected that some/most friends would stand by their friend when being accused of something, especially if they never saw anything like that. Supporting a friend being accused of something means absolutely nothing on its own, especially in the beginning. What people need to be thinking about is if/when they stopped being supportive.
For whatever reason, people seem to believe that everyone that’s a predator is making that obvious to their friends, and those friends were either in on it, or at least not opposed. Sometimes, it is the whole group, like with the recent college rape stuff… but quite often the predator is hiding that side of them both publicly and privately, even from their friends.
Not all allegations are real, it’s just as easy to falsely claim abuse as it is for an abuser to lie about doing it. One is not inherently easier to lie about. Some people abuse this to try and destroy someone’s life, especially out of spite or if they think they can get something out of it.
Given that Emily only went to the first preliminary hearing, and dropped supporting him after… it seems most likely that she never saw any of that behavior herself and was there to support a friend she thought was being falsely accused (or at least giving him the benefit of the doubt), and once there were actual facts showing the allegations were true, she stopped supporting him. Which is what you would expect from everyone not involved.
Ashton is a pedo are you surprised
Wait what? Honestly i did not keep up with any of the cast
Excuse my surprise here. I know nothing about this case. I never saw the tv show and don’t know this person. But, I am so surprised this rich famous guy gets 30 years when my entire 50 plus year life has been constantly peppered with stories of randos getting community service and probation for raping women, and even children. More than one of them have recieved supreme court appointments. What percent of convicted rapists get sentenced to 30 years or more in the USA? I asked AI and it claims less than 4%. Was he not in the right frat or something? Like, remember Brock the fratboy who raped an unconcious woman in a dumpster enclosure and got let off? I don’t understand what goes on, and I don’t trust it. That symbol of blind justice has a terrible conotation in this context.
I’m perhaps being too edgy, forgive me. But, you must see that even if this guy deserves 30 years, which I am not disputing. How is there such a wild variance in American “Justice” ? Its just wild to me.
Excuse me but you should never mention brock turner without the asshole judge Aaron perskey who let him off with the “boys will be boys” rhetoric. Or Dan Turner his gross dad who wrote the letter about how “his son’s future is ruined”.
These are the poster children of empowered toxic masculinity.
Anyone ever need a perfect example of unchecked white male privilege just need to look at these three fuckwits.
If I had to guess, it’s because he either didn’t have enough money to bribe anyone (he wasn’t rich enough, this seems likely since it says his net worth is only 8 million), or he got unlucky with a judge that just isn’t corrupt. It may be a combination of both.
he got unlucky with a judge that just isn’t corrupt.
He had two jury trials.
The jury determines guilt while the judge sets the sentence.
a few years ago, he gained more noteriety than he should he was intially charge, the moment he was found guilty ASTHON kutcher and milas kunis immediately went on camera to VOUCH for him.
That’s not why he was convicted as a famous rich white guy, that was just some lifelong friends standing by him. They didn’t deny his guilt, they just asked for leniency for their friend, which was rejected.
He was found guilty because the judge didn’t let it be about his celebrity, OR his membership in Scientology. He was treated like any other citizen accused of multiple rapes. That’s how it should be for every citizen.

What a shitty way to throw away a life that’s handed to you on a golden platter.
Fucking awful person.
That is what the platter delivers.
Tell me about it. He was the most popular character in a wildly successful sitcom, and then transitioned from TV star to a successful DJ in an era where no one makes it big as a DJ anymore.
Bro was living my dream, and he had to go and fuck it all up by being a rapist. He should have listened to Conan.
“To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!”
His presence really ruins That 70’s Show rewatches.
If it makes you feel any better, they’re all major assholes. I think Topher Grace is the only one with no shit stuck to him, but I can be mistaken.
The age old question, can you separate the art from the artist? Very philosophical and never an easy one.
If information wants to be free, and if buying not equaling owning means that piracy isn’t theft, then art doesn’t belong to artists anyway. Additionally, it’s facile to be too black-and-white about crime; criminals are still humans and being shit in one aspect of their lives doesn’t necessitate that we act as if they were shit in EVERY aspect of their lives. Even criminals still bleed when pricked and laugh when tickled, etc. If we reject the possibility of redemption/rehabilitation, then we might as well execute all criminals. Now, that’s not to say that we should simply forgive every criminal. But rehabilitation only works when it focuses on reminding the criminal of how they can still be useful to society.
It’s made a lot easier when the shitty artist is dead. It’s appropriate to talk about H. P. Lovecraft’s racism and xenophobia, hell it even informs understanding of his work a bit better, but buying his work doesn’t fund ongoing bad acts because he’s been dead for almost a century. If you’re going to be a terrible person, the least you can do is also be dead.
Only if the artist is no longer making money off of the art
Sure.
I separate Gene Roddenberry’s shitty meddling and rapey behaviour from the work that Gene Coone and D.C. Fontana put into making Star Trek a work of art.
I don’t know if you should try to separate art from artists when the art was a group effort and there were undoubtedly elements of the group that enabled his crimes so they could keep making the art.
I am emotionally incapable of enjoying that show anymore.
I think about that when they don’t love anymore and can’t in any way profit from me consuming their work. Otherwise I just don’t. There is enough to watch out there.
I read a very interesting book on this topic, Monsters: A Fan’s Dilemma by Claire Dederer. It doesn’t really give a general answer (arguably impossible anyway), but it was a fascinating exploration of the dilemma.
I’m probably not going to read this. Just tell me, oh wise one, should I watch house of cards again?
Watch the old BBC version if you haven’t seen it.
