Anyone who has Epic Games software installed on their personal device is an absolute moron at this point.

A common big business tactic is “small business”-washing the anti-regulatory actions. I asked a few right-libertarians on what regulations stop someone to make the Windows killer, only one didn’t block me, instead he came up with hypotheticals about a group of people working for free for someone until they get a working prototype, and said maybe there’s one regulation that is so obscure he couldn’t find in a few hours of googling(!).

One thing is for sure. Whatever happens, Tim Sweeney will never stop whining and crying online. It is as if he’s taken on a challenge to take Musk’s throne as the saddest, least funny online personality.

There’s a real economic cost to [blah blah crybaby way of saying AI disclosures]

Yes. There is. Because informed consumers vote with their wallets. As it should be. Moron.

I notice slopcoders often maintain that “slop code is just as good as code written by humans- in fact it is better!” while also refusing to clearly label their output as slop.

The Epic Store has always been anti-consumer so it’s no surprise he defends that kind of practice.

I’m not sure what your point is because Steam is absolutely flooded with porn games, especially since the rise of genAI.

Really? They’re all over my Steam front page. And I’ve never bought a single one.

Do you have adult games toggled off in Steam settings? That may be why you never see them.

It gives consumers free games and takes a smaller cut from the developers than steam. All corporations have mutually exclusive interests with the consumer tho.

So do developers on Steam, you literally have a filter for free games. While also having user reviews, forums, a sane refund policy, regional pricing, curators, funding Linux driver development, as well as a shopping cart (though I heard Epic Store finally put enough braincells together to get that one too).

They do that to try to gain marketshare. They should try to just stop being shitty instead and improve their client. And get off Xitter.

He calls it an “anti-technology smear campaign”, and claims that it’s akin to Valve forcing developers to list their political affiliation, i.e. whether they vote Republican or Democrat

Billionaires and false equivalencies, name a more iconic duo

I mean, if we’re going to compare apples and oranges, how about with a metaphor that makes sense? Like how if you sell food you have to list the ingredients used

Age ratings tell parents what’s in a game so they can make informed decisions for their kids. These AI statements are just as partisan as mandatory political essays or forcing developers to list their voting history to drive cancel campaigns and public struggle sessions.

    Absolutely fuck this fucking guy.

Capitalists - consumers guide the market by making informed ethical purchasing decisions.

Also capitalists - labeling requirements? Absolutely not.

It’s a great “better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool than to talk and remove all doubt” moment. He can’t help himself, it’s like the more power and money someone has, the more time they have to imagine how they’re victims.

But I like to know who is an awful person so I can avoid them, so thanks Tim.

I figured that many people are sad and lonely, ultra rich people too but they usually also are low empathy ones so that’s why they are lonely (and thus sad). Money just helps them force their thoughts down other peoples throats without effort.

At this stage of AI advancements and industry adoption, I believe most newly released games that have opted to not disclose the use of AI are lying. And steam’s choice of what constitutes AI contributions are misleading, most people don’t know that not having an AI disclosure doesn’t mean no AI use What-so-ever. As the article states AI code doesn’t need to be disclosed, which is the component of the game that has seen the the most migration towards AI.

I don’t know what role that AI disclosure plays anymore. especially when steam itself doesn’t verify publishers claims. I think it’s there just to please steam fans and maintain that cool kid aura.

Bf6 doesn’t disclose AI usage and its clear its used on the cosmetics including paid skins

The patches are also janky which makes people think at least some code is also ai generated

Most editors if not all support AI and include it so its going to be very hard to say noone uses it during development anymore.

But clearly difference between responsible use and slop.

Remember editor’s have had Intelisense and other similar functions for decades

Edit: for the down voters care to comment?

Do you think bf6 isn’t using any AI?

Do you think there are no valid use cases for AI?

The people in this thread are being disingenuous enough to compare AI disclosure to ingredient labels on food. You’re not going to get a fair answer to your question.

Unless you think being poisoned is the same as being subjected to AI artwork, because Steam still allows AI assisted code, so the moral reasons to be anti-AI are out the window.
